Los Angeles, Calif., -- April 29th, 2015 -- Prominent music attorney Dina LaPolt has been named to The Hollywood Reporter’s Power Lawyers Top Music Business Attorneys List. Currently in its 8th year, the Power Lawyers list includes the pre-eminent entertainment attorneys who handle negotiations, arbitrations and lawsuits for Hollywood’s elite. LaPolt, who works tirelessly to protect the interests of her clients and the broader music creator community, is one of ten music attorneys listed and one of only two women named. Also included on the list are Jill Berliner of King Holmes Paterno & Berliner and Don Passman of Gang Tyre Ramer & Brown. This list was released simultaneously with the Hollywood Reporter’s mostly film- and litigation-centered top 100 list, including entertainment industry legends such as Patty Glaser of Glaser Weil Fink Howard Avchen & Shapiro, Joel Katz of Greenberg Traurig, Ken Ziffren of Ziffren Brittenham, and Jeanne Newman of Hansen Jacobson Teller Hoberman Newman Warren Richman Rush & Kaller.  The full list is here: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/list/power-lawyers-2015-hollywoods-top-790600

To determine Hollywood’s most influential attorneys, The Hollywood Reporter canvassed the attorneys behind the year’s the biggest deals, cases, and other areas of entertainment. Lawyers were analyzed under five categories — talent dealmaking, litigation, corporate dealmaking, technology/convergence, and troubleshooting — and evaluated against their peers based on their accomplishments over the past year as well as their reputation within the entertainment industry.

LaPolt's firm, LaPolt Law, P.C., focuses on intellectual property & entertainment law, representing mostly music creators and other celebrities including recording artists, songwriters, producers, musicians, authors, writers, photographers, actors, and others. LaPolt is highly active in legislative and advocacy efforts, representing the interests of music creators in the ongoing legislative debates surrounding copyright law reform in Washington, D.C.

Notably, last year, LaPolt submitted a comment paper in response to the Department of Commerce Internet Policy Task Force’s Green Paper on Copyright Policy, Creativity and Innovation in the Digital Economy. LaPolt submitted the paper along with her client, Steven Tyler, with artist support letters from Dr. Dre, Sting, Britney Spears, deadmau5, Don Henley and Joe Walsh of The Eagles, Ozzy Osbourne, the Dixie Chicks, Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac, and Billy Joel.

The honorees were celebrated this morning at the Power Lawyers Breakfast at Spago where Tom Rothman, Chairman, Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group, presented the “Raising the Bar” Award to Andrew Gumpert, President, Worldwide Business Affairs and Operations at Columbia Pictures. The breakfast also featured a keynote conversation between Hollywood Reporter’s Executive Editor Matthew Belloni and Donna Langley, Chairman, Universal Pictures.
