Noah Levine World Renowned Author and Addiction Specialist to Speak at Pasadena Recovery Center

Pasadena Recovery Center is pleased to welcome renowned author and founder of
“Against The Stream Buddhist Meditation Society,” Noah Levine to their groundbreaking
speaker series on Wednesday September 17th at 12pm. He is one of the leading
speakers on the topic of drug addiction and has changed the face of AA. Levine is not
your average addiction counselor, taking the ideologies of the 12-Steps and uniquely
combining them with Buddhist practices, along with the tattoo covered, punk rock
lifestyle, holding meetings in revered underground music venues such as The Gilman in
San Francisco.

As the author of multiple best selling books and positions as a Buddhist teacher,
addiction counselor, and leader of the punk-rock scene, Levine will prove to be an
informative speaker that cannot be missed. Levine is the first to apply the Four Noble
Truths and Eight-Fold Path of Buddhism to a process of treating addiction, starting an
international movement, and creating a small sect of Buddhism in the process. With a
love of Motor-head T-shirts, punk-rock music and chain link wallets, Levine truly brings
a new age feel to recovery.

Mackenzie Phillips, the Treatment and Recovery Advocate at Pasadena Recovery
Center will be introducing Noah Levine, and following the talk there will be an
opportunity for the audience to ask questions, as well as have their purchased books
signed.

"We are honored to have Noah Levine as our featured guest for this month's speaker
series," said Phillips. "We know he will provide a fun, hip, and memorable presentation
that will truly resonate with the Pasadena Recovery Center community."

Pasadena Recovery Center Speaker Series hosts amazing authors, entrepreneurs, celebrities, and experts to talk about their personal experiences with addiction and the way it has affected both themselves and the people around them.
NOAH LEVINE is the founder of the “Against The Stream Buddhist Meditation Society” with centers in Los Angeles and San Francisco and over 20 affiliated groups in North America and Europe. He teaches meditation groups, gives workshops and leads retreats internationally. Noah has created a process of addiction recovery based on the teachings of the Buddha called Refuge Recovery. He is the author of “Dharma Punx”, “Against the Stream”, “Heart of the Revolution” and “Refuge Recovery.”

Betty Ford Foundation San Diego Reports Increase in Teen Admissions During Summer

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Summer brings an increase in teenage admissions to drug and alcohol rehabilitation clinics, according to addiction specialist Jessica Wong of the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation San Diego. Teenagers have less supervision and more time to experiment when they're out of school and parents are at work, said Wong. Wong is spreading the word about the dangers of summer through "The Top Secret Project".  Parents can tour a staged teen bedroom to learn how their children may be consuming drugs and alcohol, and the devices they're using.
