"Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend" Hits 1 MILLION Downloads

Breakout Podcast “Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend” Hits 1 Million downloads; Announces Live Dates

Los Angeles, California, May 8, 2012 -- “Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend” announced today it hit 1 million downloads since its premier Feb. 13. The first live show dates will be on May 24 at UCB LA (guest is Garfunkel & Oates) and on June 22 at NerdMelt.

The show, hosted by Alison Rosen (cohost and newsgirl on “The Adam Carolla Show”) is the second most downloaded podcast on the Ace Broadcasting Network behind The Adam Carolla Show which holds the Guinness World Record for most downloaded podcast in the world.

"She learned from the best," jokes Adam Carolla, host of The Adam Carolla Show. "In all seriousness, Alison is that rare commodity: a skilled interviewer who's smart, funny and beautiful. And what's more, she's just a nice, sweet, good person. She blew away the competition for the newsgirl position on my show so I'm not surprised at all that her own podcast is so popular and audiences are relating to her. I'm immensely proud of her. She brings a unique voice to the Ace Broadcasting Network."

The weekly podcast features a lively mix of longform interviews and short segments such as "Just Me Or Everyone?" where listeners tweet odd things they do and Alison and her guest (along with tireless Producer Gary) determine whether this behavior is common or unique. Recent examples include never taking the first straw from a dispenser but instead pumping out a new one-- everyone does this; and worrying the wind will blow your ring off your finger if you hang your hand out the car window while driving-- just you. Rosen tends to drive the discussion toward relationships and relationship history/patterns, with notable exceptions (a recent episode with bestselling author and Food Network show host Lisa Lillien focused on food and diet and, improbably, Rosen's mixed feelings about escalators). Recent guests have included Fred Armisen, Doug Benson, Marc Maron, musician Matt Nathanson, Pete Holmes, Riki Lindhome, James Gunn, Dana Gould and author A.J. Jacobs among others. Upcoming guests include YouTuber Shane Dawson, writer Joel Stein and comedian Janet Varney.

"Alison Rosen is your New Best Friend” live show podcasts are the next great extension of the live podcast success of the Adam Carolla Show and we are very excited to offer Alison's fans the opportunity to attend her live shows at great venues nationwide," says Mike August, Adam Carolla Show Talent Executive.

"Wizzard Media would like to congratulate Alison Rosen for reaching the 1 Million Download mark in just 3 months,” says Rob Walch, VP Podcaster Relations of Wizzard Media/Libsyn. “This level of downloads in such a short period of time places her show - Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend - in very exclusive company and shows a great deal of audience approval of the excellent content she is producing.  Wizzard Media is very proud to host Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend  and again we offer our congratulations to Alison on reaching this milestone.”

Rosen is Your New Best Friend, to which her massive fanbase quickly followed. The show was #1 on the

Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation Fight Opioid Addiction Through Education, Progressive Treatment

SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8) - Opioid addiction is a problem that many Americans don’t have an answer for. This month, federal authorities claimed one of the largest fentanyl seizures in U.S. history-- 97 pounds representing millions of lethal doses --from a house in San Diego. The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed three adults found dead in a Vista home a few weeks prior to the bust were killed by fentanyl overdoses. Dr. Brian Couey, Clinical Director for the  Hazelden  Betty Ford Foundation, joined News 8’s Heather Myers  Wednesday  to talk about the opioid epidemic and how the foundation is working tirelessly to fight it. A recent collaborative study between the foundation and the University of Maryland suggests that people have varying levels of susceptibility to opioid addiction and misuse. The research claims that mental health, substance abuse history and family history are all considerable factors. “We can always look at a drug and v...
