Buick Tweet House Road Trip Kicks Off in Seattle

Bloggers to Shuttle Rare 1974 Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars Cabernet to Napa Valley Film Festival

November 8, 2011, SEATTLE, WA – What do you get when you bring together a bottle of 1974 Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, Cabernet Sauvignon, (Stag’s Leap Vineyards, Napa Valley), noted wine bloggers, the Napa Valley Film Festival, and the finest luxury crossover made? You get a road trip to some of the most desirable wine destinations on the west coast. A journey that culminates in Napa Valley with a star-studded tasting featuring the producers of the hit indie film “Bottle Shock.”
Beginning today, the Seattle-based organizers of the “Tweet House” social media event series will be headed to the festival carrying a very special piece of cargo — a bottle of 1974 Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, Cabernet Sauvignon.
Going along for the ride will be blogger Barbara “Seattle Wine Gal” Evans and other selected wine and social media luminaries. On their way to Napa, the passengers and cargo will be kept mobile, comfortable and perfectly climate-controlled within the luxurious surroundings of a 2012 Buick Enclave.
“If you want to transport a precious bottle of wine for a thousand miles, I can’t think of a better vehicle than a Buick Enclave,” said Steve Broback, organizer of the event. “Thanks to its segment leading Quiet Tuning, StabiliTrak and tri-zone automatic controls, I can’t conceive of a more stable, quiet mobile environment.”
The travelers depart today from the epicenter of Woodinville wine country with a send-off party at the acclaimed Herbfarm Restaurant. One of only 42 AAA 5-Diamond restaurants in America, The Herbfarm was named “The Northwest’s most-celebrated restaurant; the ultimate expression of the Northwest’s bounty” by Frommers. There they will be joined by many of Seattle’s top social media personalities.
The next stop is to Eugene, Oregon and the renowned King Estate winery. King Estate is considered by many to be the benchmark producer of Pinot gris (aka Pinot Grigio) in the United States. The travelers will dine at their restaurant, which incorporates estate and locally grown organic ingredients that fully complement King Estate wines.
The Enclave and its passengers will then make their way on to beautiful Humboldt, California where they will stop over at the Carter House Inn. There they will dine at “Restaurant 301 which is one of only 77 venues in the world to receive a Wine Spectator Grand Award. At “301, the travelers will taste the “swoon inducing” Carter Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot offerings.
Finally, the team will arrive at Napa where they will converge at the Buick Tweet House inside the stunning AVIA hotel in downtown Napa. This is where the team will meet up with festival organizers Brenda and Marc Lhormer. In 2008, Brenda and Marc produced the indie film “Bottle Shock” a movie commemorating the 1976 wine competition termed the “Judgment of Paris” — where California wine defeated French wine in a blind taste test.
At The Buick Tweet House, the travelers, along with the Lhormers and other Buick Tweet House guests will sample the 1974 Cabernet, as well as several of the award-wining offerings from Napa Valley.

Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation Fight Opioid Addiction Through Education, Progressive Treatment

SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8) - Opioid addiction is a problem that many Americans don’t have an answer for. This month, federal authorities claimed one of the largest fentanyl seizures in U.S. history-- 97 pounds representing millions of lethal doses --from a house in San Diego. The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed three adults found dead in a Vista home a few weeks prior to the bust were killed by fentanyl overdoses. Dr. Brian Couey, Clinical Director for the  Hazelden  Betty Ford Foundation, joined News 8’s Heather Myers  Wednesday  to talk about the opioid epidemic and how the foundation is working tirelessly to fight it. A recent collaborative study between the foundation and the University of Maryland suggests that people have varying levels of susceptibility to opioid addiction and misuse. The research claims that mental health, substance abuse history and family history are all considerable factors. “We can always look at a drug and vilify it… but the p
