HOWARD LAPIDES

As CEO of Lapides Entertainment, Howard managed writer/producers, talk show hosts, authors, comedians, and actors, as well as executive producing a variety of shows in the United States and Canada.
His clients included Dr Drew Pinsky, Tom Green, Adam Carolla, Carson Daly, Jimmy Kimmel, Tom Chapin, Pat Bullard, John Wing, Kennedy, Mark DiCarlo, Mark Walberg, Christopher Darden, Marianne Curan, and many others.
Howard Lapides began his career in radio at age 16 at WYSL-FM in Buffalo, New York. While attending Emerson College in Boston, he produced the top-rated "The Steve Fredericks Show" on WMEX and worked weekends on-air at WEIM in Fitchberg, MA. After graduation, Lapides worked for the next five years with Baton Broadcasting of Canada, lending his on-air and programming expertise to CKLW, Windsor and CFGO, Ottawa.
Following his success in radio, Howard became one of Canada's most successful concert promoters. Together with promoters Michael Cohl and Donald Tarlton (Donald K. Donald), he promoted every major act in Canada for ten years.
As a one-day favor to a friend, Lapides also developed and hosted a post-game talk show on the Buffalo Bills radio network. That one day turned into years of top-rated success with the Bills and WBEN radio.
Howard was the executive producer of VH-1's highly successful “Celebrity Rehab” franchise...including “Celebrity Rehab” and “Sober House with Dr. Drew.” Howardwas managing partner of Dr. Drew productions. The company, founded in 2009 is now producing pilots for a variety of networks.
Howard served as an Executive Producer for Comedy Central’s “The Man Show”. He was also an Executive Producer of the highly successful show “Loveline” for MTV
Lapides was a consultant on Comedy Central's “Crank Yankers” produced by Adam Carrola and Jimmy Kimmel and worked closely with MTV developing “TRL” for client Carson Daly.
Lapides produced Tom Green’s feature directorial debut, Freddy Got Fingered for New Regency Pictures and Twentieth Century Fox. He also executive produced Stealing Harvard with Brian Grazer of Imagine Entertainment for Revolution Studios. Lapides also was the creative consultant for Canada’s critically acclaimed talk show “Open Mike” with Mike Bullard on CTV. Partnering with the late Brandon Tartakoff, he also executive produced the pilot “Best Defense” for ABC, starring Lauren Graham and Steve Landesberg.
He was nominated for two Cable Ace Awards, and his primetime CBC specials have been nominated for numerous Gemini Awards in Canada.
Lapides was a member of the Conference of Personal Managers and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Lapides has also authored a variety of articles for the Hollywood Reporter and Comedy USA. Howard was a regular visiting professor at USC, UCLA, and Emerson College.
He served on the Board of Overseers for his Alma mater, Emerson College.
Lapides is survived by his wife Maria, daughter Olivia, son Max, his brother Jeffrey Lapides, sisters Sharon and Renee.
